Luka Kashiri is a committed development professional with over 15 years of programming and leadership management in Child Care and support in SOS Children’s Villages. He joined SOS Children’s Villages in 2002 as the Village Educator and rose through the ranks to the post of National Programmes Director in February 2021. He was ranked first position in Africa and the Middle East in 2012 for the best internal systems of internal controls . He has managed to build strategic partnership with government, civil society, multilateral & bi-lateral agencies [extensive experience with various agencies, EU, Austrian Development Agency (ADA in 2007-2013), NORAD,(2007-2019). SOS Children’s Villages International, UNICEF,] and the private sector, across a range of development disciplines. Luka worked for 7 years as a teacher and eventually promoted to Headmaster with the Ministry of Education.
During his tenure at SOS Children’s Villages, he has travelled to various countries for best practice sharing i.e. Namibia, Rwanda, Uganda, SA, Zambia, Malawi, Ethiopia, Tanzania and Mozambique. He was one of the authors of the Finance and Administration guidelines and Family Strengthening programme manuals in 2007. He is a holder of a Masters Degree in Development Studies from University of the Free Sate, South Africa, Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education and Sport (from the Zimbabwe Open University, a Diploma in Education and Certificates in Systemic Counseling (Connect); Leader Manager Programme;(USA), Project Planning and Management from the University of Zimbabwe and International Certificate Course on Market Access for Sustainable Development from the Netherlands University . Luka also holds certificates in Entrepreneurship Development; Sustainable Asset Based Community Driven Development; Economic Empowerment and Capacity Building of communities; Strategic HIV/AIDS Project Management; (UZ), Report Writing and Presentation Skills; Sustainable Community Development and Humanitarian Project Management, and Results-Based Management (RBM) Training Certificate
Luka is happily married to Aquiline they are blessed with 4 children.
