Dr Israel Murefu was co-opted onto the SOS Children’s Villages in Zimbabwe Board in July 2021.
Israel is a self starter with vast experience in human resources management, strategic thinking and management, policy formulation, coaching, pension administration, corporate governance as well as conflict and dispute resolution management including strong negotiation and conciliation skills with over 34 years experience
Israel has taught Business Law, Corporate Law, Labour Law, Human Resources Management and Management on a part-time basis at one of he leading colleges in Zimbabwe as well as the Zimbabwe Open University between 200 and 2003. Over the years he has held several Executive roles: Past councilor, National Employment Council for the Banking undertaking, Past Chairman Banking Employers’ Association of Zimbabwe, Past Chairman, Moto Industry Pension Fund, Employee Relations Manager Standard Chartered Bank. Israel currently serves on the following Boards: Non Executive Director, GB Holdings Limited which is listed on the Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, Chairman of the Construction Industry Pension Fund, President of the Employers’ Confederation of Zimbabwe.
Israel is a holder of a Doctor of Philosophy degree .Majoring in Leadership and Corporate Governance, (AIU,) USA, a Diploma in Leadership and Governance, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Zimbabwe, A Bachelor of Law Honours Degree from the University of Zimbabwe and a Diploma in Human Resources Management.
