SOS Children's Villages Reponse to the Drought Emergency

SOS  Children's Villages Zimbabwe (SOSCVZ) is responding to the drought emergency by supporting 3 900 households in Shamva, Chitungwiza and Seke Districts with various interventions (Food relief, livilihoods support, WASH, COVID-19 awareness as well as improved access to water. The SOSCVZ interventions are being supported by the generous financial contribution of the Dutch Relief Agency, SOS Norway, SOS UK and SOS Germany, with implementation being carried out in collaboration with key Government entities at national, provincial, District and community levels (Health, Education and Agriculture), NGo partners (Dreams and ICCO) as well as community based leadership (civic, traditonal and social leaders).

The project completed the training of 9 community-based relief committee who will support its actions (notifications, distributions, post awareness creations ). The trainings were led by SOS staff (Emmergency Response Programme & the National Child Safeguarding Coordinator) in collaboration with a technical team from the Shamva Distrcit Development Committee's Drought Relief Committee. The trainings began with Training of TRainers at District level, with subsequent trainings carried out at field level in each of the 4 wards that are hosting the project.
